For children and teens, Onslow County is home to several fun and educational summer camps. Even though summer may seem far away, now is the perfect time to start considering summer camps for your child. Remember to register soon to ensure your child has a spot! 

Jacksonville Parks & Rec: Summer Day Camp

Summer day camps offer a fun, productive, safe, and affordable way for your children to enjoy the summer months! The Jacksonville Parks and Recreation Department offers various summer programs for children between the ages of 4 and 15. Activities include arts and crafts and trips to various recreation, cultural, and educational venues.

Registration opens on March 1st, 2024! 

Dates: 

  • Session 1: June 17–28 (No camp on June 19) 
  • Session 2: July 1–12 (No camp on July 4) 
  • Session 3: July 15–26 
  • Session 4: July 29–August 9 

Cost: Session fees range from $120 to $170

Zing Zumm Summer Camp 

Located at the Zing Zumm Children’s Museum of Jacksonville, the Summer Time Fun STEAMwork Summer Camps are designed for children between the ages of 5–10. The camp offers the fun of daily STEAM challenges, take-home art components, explorable STEAM stations, outdoor free play, and outdoor group team play. 

Registration is open for Summer Day Camp and will close on July 1st at 11:55pm, or when all spots have been taken. For the entire week, the Camp costs $200 per child. Campers will need to bring their own lunch to camp. 

This year’s Zing Zumm Camps are held at the Montessori Children’s School. If you are a member of Zing Zumm or your child is a student at Montessori Children’s School, you’ll receive a 10% discount. 

Dates and Themes: 

Week 1: July 8–12, 9am–4pm 

Week 2: July 22–26, 9am–4pm 

Week 3: August 5–9, 9am–4pm

Camp Sturgeon Summer Camp 

Sturgeon City offers a series of weekly summer camps with multiple age groups and themes—from learning about nature, animals, and plants to astronomy and geology. If your child is interested in building science skills and learning more about the environment, this is the perfect camp. 

Summer Camp Options for 2024: 

  • June 17–21: STEM-Sational Science 
  • June 24–28: Into the Laboratory  
  • July 1–July 3: Lego Week 
  • July 8–12: Space Voyagers  
  • July 8–12: Half Day Kindergarten, Little Builders 
  • July 15–July 19: Mystery Solved 
  • July 15–July 19: Middle School Camp—Forensic Science 
  • July 22–July 26: Nature Explorers 
  • July 29–August 2: Water Bodies 
  • July 29–August 2: Middle School Camp—Marine Science
  • August 5–August 9: Earth Explorers 
  • August 5–August 9: Half Day Kindergarten, Little Scientists 

Dates: Varies 

Cost: $200/week, 10% discount for each additional week

Onslow County Parks and Recreation 

The Onslow County Parks and Rec Summer Camp offers two main sessions and two bonus weeks for kids ages 5–12. 

Registration opens on March 4th, 2024! 

Dates: 

Session I: June 24–July 19 at Dixon Middle, Hunters Creek Middle, Southwest Middle, Summersill Elementary, and Swansboro Elementary

Session II: July 22–August 16 at Dixon Middle, Hunters Creek Middle, Southwest Middle, Summersill Elementary, and Swansboro Elementary 

Bonus Week I: June 17–June 21 at Hines Farm Park and Stables 

Bonus Week II: August 19–23 at Hines Farm Park and Stables  

 Cost: $280 per session for Session I and II, $10 sibling discount; $90 per bonus week session
