Training and Continuing Education Opportunities at One Place

At One Place, one of our primary goals is to connect families, educators, and community members with helpful resources to make Onslow County stronger. Through our popular training programs and courses, we work to ensure that parents, educators, and businesses in our community can advance their careers and support their teams.

If you’re an early childhood educator or a local business or nonprofit in Onslow County, One Place offers a number of resources to help you grow your career, meet peers, and learn new skills and techniques.

One Place’s Courses and Trainings

One Place offers three core training and professional development programs: Foundations for Resilience, Trainings, and Technical Assistance.

Foundations for Resilience
One Place’s Foundations for Resilience program provides nonprofit and for-profit organizations in Onslow County with customized personal and professional growth opportunities and skill building. We offer customizable programming to support professional and community development—so as your team grows stronger, your community does too.

When you sign up for Foundations for Resilience, you can choose from our core themes or combine several different options to meet the interests, strengths, and areas of growth for your team.

Core themes include:

  • Personal Growth
  • Team Building
  • Trauma & Resilience
  • Personality Styles & Communication
  • Challenging Relationships

Trainings
One Place offers high-quality training opportunities for early childhood educators on courses ranging from positive interactions with children, healthy and safety, trauma and resiliency, managing challenging behaviors, and CPR/First Aid.

One Place is accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), all One Place trainings are designed for early childhood educators interested in continuing their professional development and parents or caregivers who would like to learn more.

We currently offer a broad mix of trainings on a few key topics, including:

  • Positive interactions with children
  • Health and safety, such as SIDS, fire safety, PCR, First Aid, and Emergency Preparedness
  • Trauma and resilience
  • Managing challenging behaviors
  • And many other helpful topics!

Technical Assistance
One Place offers a Technical Assistance program designed to help elevate teaching, connect with fellow staff members, and navigate professional development. A step-by-step process, technical assistance integrates powerful strategies to improve the quality of child care programs and caregiver practices.

A combination of observation, coaching, modeling, mentoring, assessment, monitoring, and training, Training & Technical Assistance specialists provide long-term support for sustainable growth and professional development.

Technical assistance provides several helpful tools, including:

  • 1:1 consultation focused on classroom management, creating responsive communities, health and wellness, intentional teaching, NAEYC accreditation, and/or organizational leadership.
  • Information on how to increase or maintain a higher star rating in North Carolina
  • Support in navigating the licensing process for your child care program
  • Assistance opening your high-quality child care center

You’re a good fit for the Foundations of Resilience program if…

  • You own or run an organization or nonprofit in North Carolina

  • You’re part of an organization interested in learning more about how to create responsive communities or navigate trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)

  • You’re interested in helping your team members find their personal zone of genius

  • You want to meet other early childhood professionals and establish your network
  • You’re looking for new resources and opportunities to advance your career
